*️⃣ This course will take the average learner about 5 hours total to complete, contains self-paced and live modules. This course is for anyone who works with readers in any capacity. It will help add context to reader conversations by expanding strategies for discovering books that connect with a reader's interests, increasing the readers’ appreciation for the value of reading, and maximizing a reader’s ability to share their reading with others.

*️⃣ This course is taught by NoveList co-founder, Duncan Smith! Duncan shares his time-tested readers’ advisory methods, the goals to strive for in every conversation with a reader, and how to create a lasting connection between your organization and your community based on the value you provide to readers.

*️⃣ Conversations are the heart of connecting readers to the books they want and need. These conversations can be one of the most rewarding parts of your work... or one of the most challenging! In this course, learners will advance their readers’ advisory skills by learning how to assess a reader’s interests, evaluate titles suggested to a reader, and review the reader’s reaction to these titles. Then, learners will get the chance to practice their new skills through real-world experience, by suggesting titles for real readers.

*️⃣ Here are the core skills you will learn in this course:
- The five readers’ advisory goals you should strive to meet in every conversation with a reader.
- How to increase awareness of and appreciation for the role reading plays in the life of the reader.
- How to create a lasting connection and relationship between your organization and your community based on the value you provide to readers.
